Inside Look: The Bold New Features On Board Symphony of the Seas

From fresh eats to exciting, new entertainment, our latest ship has it all.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Symphony of the Seas, the newest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, would hit the seas in April 2018, and now there are more exciting details to share about the new sound of adventure:

Symphony, the new sound of adventure, will hit plenty of high notes while remixing Royal Caribbean’s greatest hits. With an even larger focus on family thrills, the newly designed ship will offer new culinary delights, expanded stateroom options and can’t-miss entertainment and activities that will strike a chord with adventure seekers.

Amped-Up Accommodations
One of the most jaw-dropping new offerings is the epic, multi-story Ultimate Family Suite, which rolls out the red carpet (quite literally) for the kid in all of us. A slide connects the vibrantly colored kid’s room to the living room, where an air hockey table and LEGO wall await. In a separate theater-style TV room, everyone can enjoy movies and their own popcorn machine or play one of many video games on the large 3D TV. The suite’s wraparound balcony is just as impressive, with a bumper pool table, climbing wall, full-sized whirlpool and sun loungers.

With Symphony’s new design set to make it the world’s largest ship, there will be even more balcony staterooms overlooking the water and the leafy Central Park and seaside-inspired Boardwalk neighborhood than her sister Harmony of the Seas. Catch another great view from the Solarium’s sunny pools and hot tubs perched high up at the front of the ship for miles of ocean views.

New Culinary Creations
Speaking of the Solarium, the brand new Hooked Seafood restaurant overlooks this swimming and lounging area. The New England-style seafood lunch and dinner spot will feature a robust raw bar where you can grab a seat and watch your oysters get freshly shucked before hitting your plate. You can also grab a table and enjoy expansive views of the ocean while enjoying a bounty of lobster rolls, crab and fresh fish. Another new addition is El Loco Fresh, a perfect stop for made-to-order Mexican fare, including tacos, fajitas and ample open-air seating for 100+ guests.

If sweets are your jam, the new Sugar Beach will play your tune. Appropriately near the classic carousel on the Boardwalk, this candy shop with colorful walls adorned by more than 50 types of candies, 10 different flavors of ice cream and a wide array of toppings, can satisfy any craving. It even offers DIY baking too.

Finally, guests can get into the action with the addition of Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, another exciting interactive experience to the lively, reimagined Boardwalk neighborhood. Playmakers will be the center of sporting excitement, showing everything from Premier League Soccer to NCAA championship on 30+ big screen TVs. It will be a great spot to enjoy craft brews, burgers or hot wings, and you can even feed your own competitive streak with Skee-ball and air hockey or Pac-Man and Star Wars arcade games.

Showstopping Entertainment
Entertainment Place is getting turned up as well. The Tony Award-winning musical “Hairspray” will make its triumphant return to the Royal Theater – bigger and better than ever, along with a new Royal Caribbean original, historical satire “Flight”, which is based on the evolution of aviation. High diving acrobatics also join the lineup with “HiRo” in the open air AquaTheater, and the ice-skating stunts of “1977”  in Studio B will take guests to London for the heist of the century when the Queen’s Crown Jewels were stolen.

For even more interactive action, Studio B will transform into a thrilling glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena where family and friends will team up to battle over the fate of the last planet in the galaxy. Looking for a different type of challenge? Another way for guests to team up will be a new Puzzle Break, where you’ll race against the clock with fellow shipmates to crack a challenging mystery and escape a submarine-themed room before time runs out.

Keeping The Hits
While Symphony will roll out plenty of new hits, it will still include signature Royal Caribbean experiences, a few with new twists. For example, a guest favorite, the Ultimate Abyss, will let you ride the tallest, most thrilling slide at sea. There will be two FlowRiders, our much-loved surf simulator, so guests can catch a wave or watch for wipeouts, as well the Perfect Storm waterslide trio and the classic climbing wall. The largest ship in our fleet will also house the largest Casino Royale, so guests can test their luck at craps, roulette, blackjack, poker, and hundreds of slots.

Our well-known specialty restaurants from across the fleet will be on board too. The popular steakhouse Chops Grille, hibachi excitement at Izumi, and the whimsical food and drink concoctions at Wonderland, will all be a part of the diverse group of more than 20 specialty and complimentary restaurants.
