Gorilla Trekking and Eco-Tourism with Carefree Vacations

Sharon Lee just returned from Gorilla Trekking

On Thursday, August 2, 2012 , Carefree Vacations hosted an informational evening with Volcanoes Safaris in the Carefree Vacations Encinitas office. Praveen Mohan, Co-founder of Volcanoes Safaris, was in San Diego all the way from Uganda. Praveen, along with Marta Barberini from the UK office, gave the audience a preview and update on gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda. They also spoke about Great Ape Eco-tourism and the challenges of gorilla and chimpanzee conservation in the area.

As award winning pioneers in eco-tourism, Volcanoes Safaris have been at the forefront of Great Ape Eco-tourism to Uganda and Rwanda for over 15 years. They shared some of their experiences at this event and showed us photos of their luxurious, renovated lodges as well as what to expect while on safari. Also on hand was our own Sharon Lee who just returned from a gorilla trek the day prior. She had great stories to share of how excited she was to be so close to these majestic primates. Sharon told how friendly and accommodating the staff were and how much she learned and enjoyed every minute. Everyone left excited in anticipation of one day experiencing one of these “Bucket List” safaris first hand.

Uganda

Travelers are flocking to Uganda’s beautiful mountains, trekking opportunities and communities of mountain gorillas. Kampala is now the modern, bustling capital of a new Uganda, a country with one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. Uganda’s long string of tragedies since independence has been a staple of the Western media, so most people still regard the country as an unstable place to be avoided. However, it’s getting back on its feet and the transformation is little short of astounding.

  1. Thank you for this professional and knowledgeable info!

  2. Wow, I loved this terrific post!

  3. I’m fascinated by how nicely you laid out your material and presented your views. Thank you.

  4. One more important part is that if you are a senior citizen, travel insurance intended for pensioners is something you need to really contemplate. The more aged you are, greater at risk you’re for making something terrible happen to you while abroad. If you are never covered by many comprehensive insurance policies, you could have quite a few serious troubles. Thanks for revealing your advice on this blog.
