This elegant Dutch Renaissance structure straddles three small islands and has all the trappings of a fairytale castle, but it was gainfully employed as royal residence and setting for important ceremonial events from the 1600s to the 1850s. It now serves as the National Museum of History and is best known for its outstanding collection of portraits, the largest of its kind in Denmark. Your guided tour begins at the Neptune Fountain and visits the rooms of the King's Wing, the Church, and the impressive Knight's Hall, which boasts an intricate carved wooden ceiling.
Take photos of the Royal Family's summer residence Fredensborg Palace during a brief stop on route.
Heading further north through the picturesque countryside of Northern Zealand, you will find the town of Elsinore. Copenhagen Walking tour in the pursuit of Hygge – 4 Hours

Hygge is as Danish as pork roast and it goes far in illuminating the Danish soul. In essence hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life in the company of good people. The warm glow of candlelight is also hygge. Friends and family – well that’s hygge too.

In the summertime, hygge is spending time in the sun, over a beer at the pier, a picnic in one of the city parks or just hanging out with good friends in one of Copenhagen’s many picturesque and historical back yards.

This 4-hour walking tour will highlight what hygge is all about. The tour starts by exploring the area around the Latin quarters an around the pedestrian street Strøget.

The Latin Quarter is one of the most entertaining areas of Denmark's capital city, with a young-spirited undertone around the vicinity of Copenhagen University. The Latin Quarter is well known for its hang-out spots, alternative shopping and 17th-century architecture.

Part of Danish hygge is having coffee with friends, so we will pick up a cup of coffee to go and a cinnamon roll at Sankt Peders Bakery, Copenhagen oldest bakery which was founded in 1652.

We continue our tour by visiting the church of our Lady. The Copenhagen Cathedral in its present shape is an unpretentious building in Neo-Classicist style designed by the architect C.F. Hansen. It is situated close to the University of Copenhagen. An inside visit to the Round Tower in included. It was built as part of the Trinity Complex, named after the Holy Trinity and designed to accommodate three things: the observatory at the top of the tower, the library on the floor above the Trinity Church and of course the church itself. From its vantage point you will be able to peak into some of Copenhagen’s old, historical and cozy court yards before we head over to the Kings Garden, a popular green spot in the city center.

Basis

Private tour

Duration

4 hours

Start / End

City center Hotel or address

Vehicle

None

Guide

English-speaking. Copenhagen Jewish tour – 4 Hours

Although never large in numbers, the Jews in Denmark have nevertheless had a substantial and important influence on Danish culture and history. The sights on your tour includes The Round Tower with its golden Hebrew inscriptions; the statue of the world famous Danish Jewish Nobel Prize winner, Niels Bohr; and the Trinitatis church where the Torah scrolls from the Copenhagen Synagogue were hidden during the Second World War and were thus saved from destruction.

You will be informed of the present day Jewish community, its size and the various components that went into its making. The story of the five dark years under Nazi occupation, the deeds of the Danes and their king, Christian X will not be forgotten.

The Danish Jewish Museum, designed by world famous architect Daniel Libeskind, opened in 2004 and is a must-see for anyone interested in the Jews of Denmark. Located in the center of Copenhagen, the museum is a great starting point for exploring Jewish history in Denmark. The museum presents 400 years of Danish Jewish history, including the rescue and deportation of the Danish Jews in 1943. Copenhagen’s main synagogue, finished in 1833 is located in Krystalgade (Crystal Street) in the old part of Copenhagen and will be viewed from its exterior during the tour.

Basis

Private tour

Duration

4 hours

Start / End

City center Hotel or address

Vehicle

1st Class

Guide

English-speaking. Christianshavn & Dragør tour – 4 Hours

Narrow cobbled streets, Michelin-starred restaurants and cozy cafes along the canal. Just across the bridge Knippels Bro is Christianshavn, officially part of Copenhagen city centre. Christianshavn is a much-desired area for Copenhageners to live. And it is easy to see why. It is central, full of bars and restaurants and has a unique maritime atmosphere.

Dragør was founded in the 12th century, and it grew quickly as a fishing port. During the medieval period it was an international marketplace for Hanseatic merchants who came each year to buy herring. In the early sixteenth century, King Christian II invited a group of farmers from the Netherlands - at the time, a more agriculturally advanced nation than Denmark - to settle here to produce food for the royal household. You still find many Dutch names on the doors in Dragør. The town center is very idyllic with its characteristic yellow painted houses, thatched straw roofs and cobblestone streets, plus a charming harbor that is still an active fishing port.

Christiansborg Palace is located on the tiny island of Slotsholmen and houses Denmark's Parliament. Copenhagen Sustainable boat tour- you are the captain! - 3 Hours
We start the tour on three wheels, going through the stress of Copenhagen in a rickshaw. This small vehicle has three wheels and is pushed by a bike. Our rickshaw driver will be in charge of taking us from the hotel in the city center or meeting point to the pier where a boat waits for us.
After a brief introduction on how to sail the boat, you will start sailing around the canals of Copenhagen, doing it at your own pace and choosing your own route. The boat ride lasts 2 hours and will allow you to feel the maritime atmosphere of the city and be, at least for a while, like a real boat captain.
Once on board you will enjoy some tapas while you discover the city from a different perspective and in a sustainable way. These boats work with solar energy, leaving as few carbon footprints as possible and protecting the sensitive harbour environment.
Once the boat tour is over, you go back to the hotel in our rickshaw. After this tour you will have experienced a truly sustainable tourism activity.

Basis: Private tour
Start / End: City center
Notes: Tour program may be changed for logistic / planning purposes.
Suitable for families with small children.

Tour Duration: 3 hours
Tour can operate: morning or afternoon
Wheelchair Accessible: No
Physical Activity Level: Light. Grade Easy/Medium.

Drottningholm Palace is on the UNESCO's World Heritage List. It is the best-preserved royal castle built in Sweden during the 1600’s and it is representative of all European architecture that was to follow.

The castle was built by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and was clearly inspired by French architecture and since its construction many royals have left their mark on the palace. Hedvig Eleonora, Lovisa Ulrika and Gustav III left powerful examples of their style, especially in the decor of the reception rooms. Hedvig Eleonora’s state bedchamber was at the heart of their reception rooms in the 1600’s and was created by the country's foremost artists and craftsmen.
There is also a series of rooms that were decorated for Gustav III during the 1700’s which includes the Chinese saloon, a very chic trend at that time.
In 1991 Drottningholm Castle was included on UNESCO's World Heritage list of sites of outstanding universal value to humanity. The Royal family moved into the Drottningholm Palace in 1981 and still today the castle remains the primary residence of the King and Queen. The rooms in the castle's southern section are reserved for the royal couple.

Basis:

Private tour.

Duration:

4 hours.

Start / End:

City center Hotel, address or Pier (excluding Nynäshamn Pier).

Vehicle:

01st Class.

Guide:

English-speaking.

Uppsala is located 72 kilometres north of Stockholm and as early as the 6th century it was a political and religious centre.
It was from here that the old pagan kings ruled. Legend has it that there was a splendid temple here that was decorated with gold.
The large historical Uppsala Cathedral was consecrated in 1435. Several famous scientists and kings have their chapels here. There is a fine museum in the north tower full of ecclesiastical textiles and gold and silver objects. In one of the cathedral's chapels lie the holy relics of Sweden's patron saint, St. Erik, in a gold Casket.
Uppsala University is the oldest University in Scandinavia. In the 17th and 18th centuries the university became a centre of research, mainly in the field of natural history. Many are the geniuses that have spread Uppsala's reputation worldwide and to date six Uppsala scientists have received the Nobel prize. The Gustavianum museum is housed in Uppsala University's oldest preserved building. Exhibited at the museum are the Augsburg Art Cabinet, discoveries from the Viking period, the history of the University of Uppsala, mummies and much more.
Sigtuna is a town north of Stockholm that sits beside Lake Mälaren, in the lush landscape of Uppland. The area prospered during the Viking Age, leaving a heritage of rune stones, graves and monuments, which to this day still stand in and around the town. Sigtuna is said to be home to the most rune stones in the world. They were erected during the Viking era to commemorate deceased men.
Sigtuna is Swedens first town and was founded in AD 980, as Christianity arrived, uniting Sweden as a single kingdom. With a royal mint and a bishop, Sigtuna was effectively the capital of Sweden until power shifted towards Stockholm and Uppsala in the 13th century. Three historic church ruins, St. Olof, St. Lars and St. Per, from the 12th and 13th century can be found in the medieval centre of Sigtuna. Here, you will also find the brick Church of Maria, which was built in 1247 as a Dominican monastery.
After three fires in the 17th century, Sigtuna was a ghost town for 250 years but was later revived in the 1910s as a nationalist project. The 18th century Town Hall can be found on Sweden's oldest street, Stora Gatan (over a thousand years old). It is allegedly the smallest town hall in Scandinavia and is nowadays used as a museum. At Stora Gatan, you will also find clusters of interesting little shops selling fashion, design and local handicrafts.

Basis:

Private tour.

Duration:

6 hours.

Start / End:

City center Hotel, address or Pier (excluding Nynäshamn Pier).

Vehicle:

01st Class.

Guide:

English-speaking. Stockholm Jewish tour – 5 Hours

The northern city of Stockholm is one of the most stunning capitals in the world. It is situated on 14 islands and is surrounded by water so clean that you can swim and fish right in the heart of the city.

Sweden’s Jewish community holds a very unique place in the continental European Diaspora. During the mid-20th century, Sweden was one of the only European countries to actually witness a growth in their Jewish population. During the Second World War there was no systematic persecution by the neutral Swedish government, and, in fact, the country gave asylum to thousands of Jewish refugees from Denmark and Norway. The community has continued to exist relatively undisturbed over the generations.

Today, the Swedish Jewish community is the largest in Scandinavia and is primarily composed of descendants of pre-war refugees and Shoah survivors who arrived after the war. Most Swedish Jews live in the capital Stockholm. It is a unified community and all three synagogues in the city belong to the same organization.

Today’s first stop is at the impressive panoramic viewpoint Fjallgatan. Here you have the opportunity to take some photographs while your guide points out the main sights of the city before your scenic drive towards Gamla Stan (Old Town).

Here you will get an insight into the long lasting German influence and the many attacks of the Danes during the Middle Ages. Due to the Swedish neutrality nothing has been destroyed here in the last 400 years. You will experience the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old Town, passing the Royal Palace and on to Tyska Brunnsplan square, named after the German community that once occupied this area. Here stands the building which was Stockholm's first synagogue, founded in 1790.

Continue towards the Conservative Synagogue, otherwise known as the Great Synagogue. Inaugurated in 1870, it still has an active congregation with more than one thousand members. The Great Synagogue is built in an Assyrian style whose organ resembles an open Torah scroll.

Leaving the Synagogue you pass by the beautiful Jewish cemetery whilst taking in the main sights and highlights of the city.

Basis

Private tour

Duration

5 hours

Start / End

City center Hotel, address or Pier (excluding Nynäshamn Pier).

Vehicle

1st Class.

Guide

English-speaking. You start the day by meeting our local guide and taking a 20 minute transfer to the museum.
Millesgåarden was built in 1908 by sculptor Carl Milles and his wife painter Olga Milles. Today, the building became a well-renowned museum with an artist home, an antique collection, a vast sculpture garden, an art gallery with a museum shop and a restaurant. Millesgården is a work of art in its own right, a nicely balanced stage design of terraces, fountains, stairways, sculptures and columns, coupled with a diversity of vegetation and an immense vista across the waters of Värtan from the rocky heights of Herserud.
Once the visit of the museum is over you will go back to the city center in an alternative way: a boat that sails through the archipelago. Skoklosters castle and Sigtuna by car – 6 hours

This tour will offer you a unique insight in the history of Sweden. The tour starts with a visit to the historical city of Sigtuna where you will learn about the earliest days of the history of Sweden. Sigtuna is a town north of Stockholm that sits beside Lake Mälaren, in the lush landscape of Uppland. The area prospered during the Viking Age, leaving a heritage of rune stones, graves and monuments, which to this day still stand in and around the town.
Sigtuna is Sweden’s first town and was founded in AD 980, as Christianity arrived, uniting Sweden as a single kingdom. With a royal mint and a bishop, Sigtuna was effectively the capital of Sweden until power shifted towards Stockholm and Uppsala in the 13th century. Three historic church ruins, St. Olof, St. Lars and St. Per, from the 12th and 13th century can be found in the medieval center of Sigtuna.
We continue the tour with a visit of Skoklosters Castle, one of the world's greatest baroque castles and probably one of the most beautiful castles in Sweden. Skoklosters is located in a beautiful natural setting by Mälaren's shore. This castle was built between 1654 and 1676 and it is a major monument from the period when Sweden was one of the most powerful countries in Europe. You will be welcomed and guided in a privately arranged tour of the entire castle, and not only the ground floor exhibition and the Wrangel state apartment which is open to the public. Your private tour offers a rare insight into the 17th and 18th Centuries through the extensive collection of weapons, books, silver and textiles among many things

Basis: Private tour.
Duration: 6 hours.
Start / End: City center Hotel, address or Pier (excluding Nynäshamn Pier).
Inmclusions: 01st Class vechicle, Guide English-speaking.

A Pulsating Harbour - Tri-City Complex: Gdanks/Gdynia/Sopot

Gdansk, as fascinating and special city as one could hope to find anywhere, was once known as Danzig - name etched deep in European history. It is a major harbour, first German, then Hanseatic, Polish, Prussian, Free City and finally Polish. Desired by many, the city was often fought over. Indeed, it was the nearby Westerplatte that the first shots of history’s greatest war were fired in 1939. Later in the late 1970s the city’s Lenin Shipyard saw the birth of the Solidarity Trade Union, which made Lech Walesa a household name and began the process of transformation across the entire region. Gdansk has not forgotten its history. The lovingly restored buildings of the Old Town and waterfront provide picturesque and interesting surroundings, in which one may take a stroll, dine or shop for the city’s famous amber jewelry. In turn, the impressive Monument to Murdered Shipyard Workers gives the visitor a pause for thought about all that has happened since the 1970s.But further surprises await, for Gdansk is just the largest component of the Tri-City of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. North-south development along the coast left beautiful and unspoiled woods and forests on hills just inland, and allows the visitor to travel smoothly from place to place by road or by local railway. Required stops for all include Gdynia, the lively naval, fishing and commercial port with its historical ships, beaches and the Oceanographic Museum; Sopot, an elegant beach resort of villas and hotels famous for its musical and cultural festivals; and Gdansk-Oliwa, a suburb boasting beautiful parks and a cathedral, whose world-famous organ Poland-largest entertains and entrances all who hear it. Lively, attractive, cultured, historical: the Gdansk area is as varied and eternally fascinating as the sea, which brought its fame and fortune.

***************************
You will be picked up at the port by your guide and driver.

Just behind it, we pass by a baked-brick construction consisting of the Prison Tower and the Torture House - relics of the Gothic defence walls from the 15th century. The Golden Gate, situated next to the Prison Tower, opens onto the Long Market - a magnificent street, with Patrician mansions decorated with late Renaissance and Baroque facades - a real feast for the eyes!!! It is here that the richest burghers of Gdansk used to live. Next, we can see the Main Town Hall, with a life-sized figure of king Sigismund Augustus on the top. Beyond the Main Town Hall, we admire the Artus Court - a building used for Hanseatic League meetings, the most beautiful court in all the Hanseatic cities. Just behind it rises the tower of St. Mary's Basilica, a part of the most precious and largest red-brick Gothic church. On our way back we pass by Mariacka Street, with its gabled terraced houses and elegant boutiques, leading to the Long Wharf on the Motlawa River. At the river's edge stands the characteristic Gdansk Crane, where the tour ends.

Afterwards, drive to see the former Nazi Concentration Stutthof Camp established at the beginning of September 1939 is the oldest camp of mass-extermination in Poland. The first prisoners of camp thought for "desirable Polish elements" were representatives of Polish associations in Free City of Danzig. Within the 5 years of camp existance 110.000 mens, women and children were kept and almost 65.000 prisoners died as result of murdering in gas chambers, beating, hanging, torturing and making medical tests by Nazi mad scientists. Azamara®: Azamara Pursuit
The launch of Azamara Pursuit® opened the seas to maiden ports, new itineraries, and the opportunity to provide the guests with even more unforgettable, unique, and immersive experiences than ever before. Like the sister ships, Azamara Pursuit offers some of the most extraordinary adventures on Earth, to places you’ve always dreamed of. Or, perhaps, only just heard about. New-to-Azamara destinations include Antofagasta (Chile), Lima (Peru), and the Beagle Channel—and those are just some of the South American maiden destinations.

It’s been said that guests sail with Azamara for the destinations, but come back for the staff and crew. And we couldn’t agree more. Whether you’re greeted with a cool towel, a warm smile, or a glass of sparkling wine after a rewarding day spent onshore, the staff and crew are always ready and waiting to welcome you home. Everyone from the captains to the dinner servers puts guests as their top priority. You’ll love the genial club-like atmosphere and the way the staff and crew get to know you. And you’ll feel the same friendliness with your fellow voyagers.
