Delphi – History & the Oracle w/lunch - Full Day Tour

In the morning, you will be met by your English-speaking guide upon disembarkation from the cruise ship to commence the tour. Upon completion of the tour, you will be transferred back to the ship.

Enjoy a scenic drive to Delphi via the National Highway passing through the spectacular sites of Boetia, Thebes and Levadia.

Delphi is by common consent the most spectacularly beautiful ancient site in Greece and the one, which, even to the uninitiated, most vividly evokes the Classical Past.  In antiquity Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world (omphalos of the earth) and to this, and its oracle, the place owed its prestige, which extended far beyond the Greek world.

Our visit to Delphi is divided into three parts: the Sanctuary of Apollo with the Stadion; the Castalian spring and the Sanctuary of Athena at Marmaria (from above as it is a steep ragged climb to access it); and the Museum.

Enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant.  En route to Athens, there will be a short stop at the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. The village is famous for its attractive hand-woven carpets and rugs as well as for its wine and cheese.

In the early evening return to Athens.

Departure for the excursion to Corinth and Cenchreae, from the where St. Paul left for Ephesus.  Stop to view the Corinth Canal connecting the Aegean with the Ionian Sea.  Ancient Corinth is sited inland at the foot of Mount Acrocorinth.  The City’s ‘Long Wall’ began from the summit of the mountain, encompassed the city and ended at the port of Lechaio, which was the artificial harbor built on the shore of the Gulf of Corinth.

In the area of the city itself, the ruins are those of its Agora (Forum) as it was in the days of the Romans in the 1st century AD. On the northern side of the agora, seven of the thirty-eight columns of the Ancient Temple of Apollo (6th century BC) still stand. To the northeast of the Agora are the remains of the Theater and the Roman Odeon. Among the ruins of the Roman Forum, the Bema can be seen single structure from where St. Paul preached to the Corinthians.  Corinth was the city where St. Paul created one of the biggest Christian communities in Europe.  A visit to the Museum is also included as well as a stop at the small port of Lechaio, where Paul disembarked.

Santorini Island Tour - Half Day Tour

You will be met by your English-speaking guide upon disembarkation from the ship, at the bottom of the cable car at the Old Port of Fira. Our lovely tour starts with a scenic drive through the plains of Santorini to picturesque Oia, the crowning glory of peace and tranquillity.

Built on the northern part of the caldera rim, it is here where many artists have been inspired due to its magnificent location with its most superb views of the caldera, the rest of the island and the Aegean Sea.. We then stop at one of the famous wineries to enjoy a wine tasting tour of the fine wines produced on the island. Our final stop is Fira, the islands capital town.

The island used to be circular, but a massive volcanic explosion around 3,500 years ago blew out the centre of the island. (Many people attribute the decline of Minoan civilization on Crete to this cataclysmic eruption. High cliffs jutting into the sea are all that's left of the crater rim.

The surrounding islands are the remains of the sides of the crater, and the sea has filled in the gaps, forming a beautiful bay. Sunsets on the island are particularly striking; all the restaurants and bars in Fira face west over the sunken volcano and the Aegean Sea.

Santorini - Traditional Cooking Experience - 5.5 hours
Upon disembarkation from the ship at the Old Port of Fira, you will be met by your English-speaking escort who will escort you (on foot) to the Selene restaurant. Upon completion of the program you can return on your own to the cable cars leading to the ship.

We will welcome you at Selene Restaurant with fresh juice, coffee and traditional Greek cookies. A lecture by Yiorgos Hatziyannakis will give you an introduction to the cuisine of the Cycladic Islands and particularly of Santorini. Following the lecture, we will introduce to you the unique local products of our island. The volcanic eruption that broke the island of Santorini apart almost 3500 years ago left the dramatic caldera that you see today. With more than 300 days of sunshine and its rich volcanic soil, the island yields a bounty of unusual indigenous herbs and vegetables: white eggplant, capers and caper leaves, fava (small yellow peas), exquisite baby tomatoes - all grown virtually without water.

We will introduce you to the Santorini wine, to the grape varieties and to the Santorini vineyard, and you will have the chance to sample four different wines in the wine tasting we have arranged for you. Cheeses and sausages from several other Cycladic islands, including Naxos, Syros, Ios, Tinos, brought especially for this occasion, will accompany the wines.

At about 12pm the presentation and the demonstration of four different recipes will take place. You will learn how to prepare an entire Greek menu: an appetizer, a salad, a main course, and a dessert. Food items include:
  • Fava with tomato caper sauce or Tomato fritters (tomatokeftedes)
  • Eggplant salad with octopus or Taramosalata
  • Rabbit with egg- cheese sauce or Lamb in grapevine leaves
  • Cheese and honey sweet pastry or Melitinia (traditional Santorini cookie)
After we have prepared the dishes, at about 2pm. you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labors accompanied by a bottle of delicious wine from Santorini.

Duration approx. 5 1/2 hours

Note: The program is available for couples and small parties of up to 8 persons

The program starts at approx. 10am. Lunch is served at 2pm.

Naples - Full Day to Capri - 8 hours
Climb aboard the hydrofoil at Naples Port for a full day of fun 'alla Caprese' and discover what keeps the jet set coming back to the enchanted Isle of Capri, from 1st C Emperor Caesar Augustus to 20th C fashion icon Jackie O...
Your trip begins at the Port of Naples - one of the Mediterranean's busiest seaports and the jumping off point for the hydrofoil to Capri. During the roughly 45-minute crossing, your guide will regale you with stories of the people, places and history that have made this four-mile block of limestone so legendary. Once on the island, visit Marina Grande, the main port and a seaside gem with a jumble of multicolored traditional houses, terraced slopes bursting with Mediterranean blooms and jaw-dropping mountains rising up behind. The tour continues by funicular railway to Capri Town. Perched on the saddleback between the island's main mountains, this is where the see-and-be-seen set sips Bellinis on La Piazzetta and high fashion boutiques and artisan workshops line the narrow, elegant streets. And finally, we take a taxi over the gentle slopes of Monte Solaro to Ana Capri, the island's "second city" perched on a verdant plateau. Despite its popularity, Ana Capri still retains its original charms, with cobblers and embroiderers peddling their wares and bougainvillea draping the characteristic whitewashed houses that show its Moorish influence. One highlight of this end of the island is Villa San Michele. Built at the turn of the 20th century by Swedish physician, nature lover and Renaissance man Axel Munthe, we'll visit its lush gardens, charming museum and quaint chapel. More adventurous types might enjoy a chairlift ride up to the summit of Monte Solaro for 360-degree views of this inimitable landscape, before returning to Marina Grande for the hydrofoil.

What's the best way to experience the Isle of Capri? From the water of course. Join your captain to cruise on a private motorboat across the Bay of Naples to what just might be the world's favorite island...
Join our driver for the quick trip to Borgo Marinaro Port, where you'll meet your English-speaking captain and board your private motorboat for the crossing to Capri. Your captain is more than happy to customize the cruise to suit your needs - stop at a seaside restaurant for some fresh-off-the-hook seafood, take a dip in a secluded cove accessible only by boat (don't forget the swimsuits!) or make landfall to see and be seen with the rest of the jet set.
