- Spent a full day in Gyeongju, South Korea with a visit to Bulguksa Temple, a World Heritage Site.

When we arrived in Tokyo after our flights from the US, we were greeted by a Zegrahm representative that escorted us to the New Otani Hotel for Dinner and overnight stay.
The next morning we boarded the Bullet Train to Niigata where we boarded the Caledonian sky for our cruise.
One this 14-day, small ship adventure from Tokyo to Kyoto aboard the Caledonian Sky we were in the company of Mark Brazel, one of Zegrahm’s finest expedition leaders and a leading authority on the natural history of Japan.
We visited Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples as we sailed the northern coast of Japan to South Korea stopping in Gyeongji. From there we navigated narrow channels and scenic landscapes of Japan’s southwest tip including stops at Matsue, Hagi, Uwajima, Naoshima and ended in Kobe.
After disembarking in Kobe we traveled overland to Kyoto, Japan’s lovely cultural Capital and over nighted one night at the Hotel Okura before departing for our International flights home.
This was an amazing travel expedition and during lectures, guided excursions and daily recaps I gained so much insight into Japan’s fascinating history, religion, gastronomy, and time honored traditions.
Zegrahm’s exceptional hand-picked expedition team ensured that we enjoyed a comprehensive understanding of the cultural and natural highlights of this expedition.
