One of the wonderful rewards of being a travel consultant is using your knowledge and expertise to guide friends and family on magical adventures to the world’s most captivating destinations. Carefree Vacations Agent, Lynn Rodrigues, recently enjoyed this reward hosting a small affinity group on a Rhine River Cruise with Uniworld River Cruises.

The group accompanied Lynn on a memorable float down the river beginning on August 26th in Basel, Switzerland and ending in Amsterdam, Netherlands on September 2nd. Some members of the group enjoyed pre-nights in Zurich and Lucerne before arriving in Basel for the river cruise launch and most of the group enjoyed a few extra days in Amsterdam to make the most of their European holiday before heading back home.

Lynn’s Rhine River Cruise group started coming together after last year’s Luxury Travel Show when clients approached her after hearing a brief presentation from Uniworld. Soon after, planning began and Lynn chose the best itinerary to suit her clients’ interests. The trip highlights were many including visiting medieval castles and the Cologne Cathedral as well as the Black Forest, experiencing Switzerland and her mountains first-hand, and of course, tasting native Riesling and beers in Germany. Remembering the thrill of being there, Lynn said, “I went up Mt. Pilatus by a gondola and returned down a 45 degree incline on a cog wheel train! A number of other clients experienced Jungfrau for the first time! It was also interesting visiting the birthplace of the original Cuckoo Clock and learning the historical significance of Cologne, Germany.”

Lynn and her guests alike commented that one benefit of river cruising is it’s such a convenient way to get around. “You’re right there in town at each stop and don’t have to pack and unpack each day. The meals were wonderful, the shore excursions were included (with optional longer paid excursions as well) and since alcohol was also included, you could meet in the bar and have a drink with anyone or have wine on the table at dinner and not have to worry about who was paying. It was great for the group who enjoyed the musician on board and would get together before dinner or after an excursion and relax with friends.”

“Throughout the trip, the service was excellent and very personalized. There was never a “no” to any request, and the crew always found a way to deliver. The ships are absolutely beautiful and the décor great too. Excursions were very well organized and they cater for all mobility classes – from active (ride bikes between towns along the coast) to clients who were not able to walk very well!”

If you’re interested in European river cruising, August is a great time to go, or possibly May-June, but there’s no guarantee from Mother Nature on the weather. To hear first-hand about upcoming itineraries on Uniworld, join us at the upcoming Luxury Travel Show on Oct. 13 at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. RSVP @ http://www.carefreevacations.com/luxury/
